Why do some girls have really low self esteem and think that they are ugly?
This is not something that is restricted to just girls – many boys also feel the same way. The possible reasons for low self-esteem and self-confidence are as many, varied and complex as people themselves. Often such feelings can be traced back to how the person was raised, the kind of family support and love (or lack thereof) that they experienced, being bullied or teased at school, and so on. Often, as small children, they are told by others that they are worthless or bad or ugly or whatever. If you tell a small child something often enough, they will eventually come to believe it. It really is very sad, and the best thing you can do for someone like this is to always treat them with kindness, dignity and equality and give them positive feedback and reinforcement whenever you can.
