Why do some people choose the cutest dog breed rather then suitability?
Absolutely agree that it is fundamentally important to match what you want from a breed, with what the breeds needs from a home. In the case of my breed of choice, the Dobermann, far too many pepole are attracted to a breed because of the appearance the breed, but completly fail to consider what is underneath. When the dog becomes an adolescnet & the drives/ breed characterstics really come to the for, all too many people find they have more dog than they can handle {usually because of a lack or leadership &/or training} Responsible breeders screen homes carefully & will weed out people who patently have not researched the breed. The first two questions I was asked by the breeder of my current b*tch were “why do you want a Dobermann?” & “what do you plan to do with the dog?” Back yard breeders, pet supermarkets & pet shops supply a demand from people who want a dog now & do not want to wait. They will sell to anyone with cash in their wallets & not question whether or not the purchaser
