Why do some people in Chelmsford have blue recycling bins and some have red recycling bins?
Recycling in Chelmsford is bi-weekly. Red bin areas are collected one week, blue bin areas are emptied the next week. Having the correct bin color is important for several reasons: first, the calendar in the “Chelmsford Recycles” flyer is color coded to tell residents which week is the recycling week in their neighborhood, and if you live anywhere near the border of your recycling route, you will be at much less risk of being missed because the hauler thinks you have your materials out the wrong week because it’s in the wrong color bin.
