Why Do Swollen Gums Occur?
Infections that harm the gums, and bones that holds teeth in place refers to gum disease or sometimes called as periodontal or gingival disease. Tartar which is a harmful covering of teeth which brushing alone cannot clean can form hard when plaque stays on your teeth too long. When you let plaque and tartar stay on teeth longer, the more damage it can cause. Swollen gums may occur. Gums may become red and bleed easily. This condition is called gingivitis, and once this condition is left untreated, it can cause gums to pull away from teeth, form pockets and get infected and can further advance to periodontitis. If periodontitis is not treated, this infection can ruin the bones, gums, and tissue that support your teeth. Loose teeth can occur over time that the dentist is required to perform tooth extraction.
