Why do the cannons aboard the Uss constitution bear the seal of king george iii?
When Constitution was launched in 1797, she carried a small number of long guns taken from the old British for on Castle Island. When her guns her re-cast during a restoration in the 1920s, it was mistakenly believed that all of her guns had been British made. hence why her guns now bear the British seal.
