Make sure the Ask me or Overwrite option is selected in the Overwrite thumbnails and images option on the Files tab. The New and modified only option is much faster, because previously created thumbnails and modified images will not be recreated. However, if you want to recreate thumbnails or modified images, you must select the Overwrite or Ask me option to force overwriting previously created images. For example, overwriting is necessary when the size of existing thumbnails or resized images is changed or when a new image file is added to the source directory under an existing name.
