Why do the practices of different traditions of Buddhism differ?
Different people have different nature, perspectives and backgrounds. Therefore, their approaches, belief systems are different. To address this, Buddha had taught different ways to achieve enlightenment and later these different ways led to different traditions. Therefore all traditions differ from one another due to the different ways and methods taught by the Buddha for different natured people.
