Why do they use magnesium in fireworks?

0

Magnesium is the wick in fireworks. It burns slowly, but efficiently. It’s also an ingredient in some gun powders, because when combined with certain other chemicals/compounds, it’s VERY, VERY explosive. Also, some metals can ONLY be heated to certain temperatures, that magnesium can reach, therefore, when magnesium is lit, it gets to EXTREMELY high temperatures, allowing ALL of the compounds to be ignited.
