Why Do We Celebrate the 4th of July?

0

We celebrate the 4th of July:

  • In thanks for the sacrifices our founding fathers made on our behalf
  • Because of the freedoms that we enjoy and hold dear
  • Because of all those that have continued to fight for its independence.

The Fourth of July is also called Independence Day. The name demonstrates the whole reason why the holiday is celebrated. It is the day that marks the declaration of the thirteen original colonies of this country that they were no longer under the rule of England nor a property of the King of England.

The early colonists broke free of the King’s rule and the rule of the English Parliament. They declared that they would rule themselves and construct their own government. They declared the freedoms which the citizens of this country have enjoyed for decades.
