Holy Thursday As Holy Thursday approaches I find myself looking back to an evening many years ago when my husband and I were the weary parents of three young daughters. The details of what I assume were a typically hectic day escape me, but the events of that night still touch me. With the girls tucked safely into bed the two of us began to tell each other about our trying day. Somehow we ended up bringing out the white rubber dishpan from under the sink and consoling each other by washing one another’s feet. This wasn’t a common practice in our house; in fact we had never done it before or since. It wasn’t until we attended the Good Friday services the next day that we realized what had taken place. This week we will be reminded again that after washing the feet of the disciples, Jesus advised his followers to do the same.
