Why do women tennis players have to wear skirts and the men wear shorts?
Tim, from Blaine, Minn. There’s no official requirement for women tennis pros to wear skirts or dresses, and it is not required in the International Tennis Association dress code. However, it’s become the standard largely for fashion reasons. Female tennis players can make quite a bit of money from endorsements, and their clothing on the court is part of that. Players like Anna Kournikova have dressed in shorts for tournaments in the past, but that is not the norm. Is the thumb a finger? Joshua, from Mankato, Minn. The answer is yes, according to Stephen A Sardino, Jr., writing at a U.S. Department of Energy Web site. “The thumb is actually a special finger that has only two bones,” he wrote. “Our other fingers actually have three bones in them. Some people are born with three bones in their thumb and this does not usually cause a problem.” (© MMX, CBS Broadcasting Inc.
