• Sycamore was developed for Wiki Spot and is hosted at Wiki Spot. Earlier this year we received a grant enabling us to write a new wiki platform with features specific to the needs of real world communities. This new software is part of the Local Wiki initiative, but that is only part of it — Wiki Spot is a “community of communities”, not just a wiki farm. Some of the more “feature-rich” wiki software is a poor match for the specific needs of real world communities and towns. GTD features, groupware tools and other features make a community wiki more difficult to use for a casual user and are simply not needed. Meanwhile, some specific things like mapping event entries through annual occurances or other geographic capabilities relating to events, property and buildings are so essential they are core needs, not plugins.
