Why do Ziploc Evolve Sandwich bags cost MORE?
I agree with you that the bags should be cheaper in order to drive more consumers to buy them. However, alternative energy (at least where I live) is actually more expensive, and even if the Ziploc factory has wind turbines on site, they would have to spend much money to install them. Developing a new product takes a lot of money, too. Companies have to research, develop, test, retest, etc. If a company used natural or organic ingredients, they need to go through additional testing to prove (and become certified) that they are in fact natural or organic. Over time, the prices will probably decrease but the initial investment that the company made needs to be recovered sooner rather than later (after all, they have bills to pay, too).
