[emphasis added] This verse is a quotation of Isaiah 9:1, which reads in the KJV as follows: Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations. The Book of Mormon deletes “her” from the KJV and changes “sea” to “Red Sea.” Based on verse 1 in light of verse 2 from Isaiah, many people conclude that the sea is the Sea of Galilee, not the Red Sea.
