Public Citizens, representing consumers nationwide, petitioned the F.D.A to add a warning about the serious side effects of the widely prescribed antibiotic, known as Fluoroquinolones. This petition was filed based on more than 130 reports of severe tendon inflammation after taking antibiotics. Fluoroquinolones, otherwise known as, ofloxacin (Floxin) can cause severe tendon pain and must be discontinued at the initial onset of tendon pain.
