Why does Cuba allow Guantanamo Bay prison camp to exist?
Yes it’s historical, it’s called a lease that predated Fidel Castro’s coup in the 50’s. Fidel can’t force the US off the island until the end of the lease without the possibility of it being considered an act of war against the USA. With the prevalent anti Castro sentiment in the USA, especially among the Cuban immigrants, the communist government of Cuba doesn’t want to push the issue. As for your “torturing camp” I will presume that comment was made from liberal media accounts and not based on first hand knowledge. From what I hear they get three squares, room, board, a Koran, and a prayer rug … a significant improvement over the decapitations that their brothers in arms impose on the prisoners of war that they take.
