Gucci has spent large sums of money throughout the world to develop and maintain its reputation for style and quality. Sellers of counterfeit merchandise attempt to trade off of Gucci well-earned reputation. Sales of counterfeit goods damage Gucci reputation, as many of the purchasers of inferior counterfeit products will attribute the poor quality merchandise to Gucci.
