Why does islamophobia exist?
If you’d asked this question 7 or more years ago I would have said 95% of islamophobia is because of racists/fascists etc and 5% experience. Now, I would say 75% of islamophobia is down to awareness of what they can really be like – the terrorist attacks, the honour killings, the way they react violently to ANYTHING (e.g. that Danish cartoon) and put themselves across as uncivilised and barbaric, the way they treat women, the way they’re homophobic, etc etc. Now don’t get me wrong, I try to fight this as much as I can, I hate the thought that I feel animosity towards a group of people for any reason.
