Well, I think all crafts have their time of popularity, and then they just kind of fade out.I do think a lot of people did enjoy working with plastic canvas, as you say, but styles change and trends do to, and what we once liked as a display or an ornament becomes a bit dated. Plastic canvas is nice in that you can make three dimensional things! I remember seeing kleenex box covers, toys, Christmas tree ornaments–all kinds of interesting things made from plastic canvas. I think many found it easy to work with do to the large hole size of the canvas–easy to see and quick to finish! Right now the huge trends in craft work is scrapbooking and beading. One of the reasons that they are popular is because they are both utilitarian and decorative, and involve current designs and trends, and can be done without too much training.
