Not all stainless steel products can be cleaned inside a dishwasher. E.g. knifes that are not rusting start to have so called flash rust on the surface when washed inside the dishwasher. Also if other metal things that are not stainless are inside the dishwasher as well the rust that is producing can separate from that and “stick” onto the stainless steel parts. So first check if your knifes and pans are really be washable inside dishwashers (mine are not and they were quite expensive) then check if other things are not stainless and produce flash rust.
