All animals like to lick our skin because we secrete salt, and they looove the taste. Attention, food, and the need to play are showing up a lot in my life lately; my little gray tabby does it all the time, so I have to get up and feed him. If I feed him, he curls up next to me and goes back to sleep. I shouldn’t have let it become this way, but he’s happy that way and I don’t mind our nightly ritual by now. Also, cats groom each other, and that carries over to us as they become bonded to us. She’s taking care of you!

My cat doesn’t lick my face, but will come and bite me on the face in the mornings. I think she is trying to get me up out of bed to play with her or let her outside. It sounds like your cat wants some attention too.
