I also had the same problem and was very surprised when mcafee identified BS.Player as a threat. At first, I was scared, but then I realized that it was just a mistake on the part of mcafee. After a while, BS.Player is no longer defined as a virus, but there were many other bugs in mcafee and I decided to look for another antivirus. I came across this article https://jealouscomputers.com/mcafee-vs-avast/ and I realized that avast would be more convenient for me than mcafee. Both antiviruses have their advantages, but I liked avast much more, at least because there are fewer random triggers on files that are not viruses.

We have received several reports from BS.Player users that McAfee antivirus detects BS.Player version 2.40.997 as threat. This is a false alarm since BS.Player does NOT have any malware in it. We believe that heuristics of McAfee antivirus program detects BS.Players codec manager as trojan in some cases (presumably when heuristics are set to highest level), because codec manager must determine which codecs are currently installed on computer and in order to do so must access the Windows registry file. We must point out the fact that until now we have not received report of ANY OTHER antivirus program (NOD, NORTON, KASPERSKY…) detecting BS.Player as malware. McAfee was notified of this technical problem, and will hopefully fix it in the near future. All McAfee users who have seen this warning on your personal computers – please contact McAfee technical support to receive the service you payed for – working antivirus software or demand an explanation why was BS.Player marked as threat.
