Why does my washing machine dispenser smell stale?

try washing it out. I take mine out once a week & wash it in warm soapy water. I also run a maintenance wash on my machine. Put the normal amount of detergent in, with an empty drum & put it onto the longest cycle. It keeps it smelling fresh, as well as helping to clear out any small blockages from the pipes.  more
