Why does psad use a different whois client than the one already installed on my system?

Bundled with psad is an excellent whois client written by Marco d’Itri. It provides more accurate querying of the correct registry for almost all netblocks. The whois client that is normally bundled with Red Hat systems provided ample motivation for finding a better solution. If your system does not already have it installed, then it should.
