Why does Rockford Promise limit grants to graduates of Rockford School District #205?
Rockford Promise is a promise to the students and families of our community. In order to fulfill our commitment, Rockford Promise must acquire a level of financial support that guarantees the availability of grant funds to all eligible applicants. It is the vision of Rockford Promise that financial support will grow to a level that will allow the awarding of grants to all eligible students to attend any public college or university in the State of Illinois. RPS District # 205 has the largest number of potential graduates in the region. By supporting and encouraging students of that district to graduate, Rockford Promise has the greatest level of impact in changing behaviors, changing demographics and improving economic development for the region. RPS District #205 can become the regions leader in the establishment of Promise programs.
