Why does society applaude female virgins but make fun of male virgins?
Testosterone fuelled religion and the idea of male supremacy over women. The basic outline is that men “own” women and rule their lives and since women are “owned” they are better when they are “pure” and untouched by other men. Female virginity is a good thing for their future “owner” since it lessens the risk for disease as well and the risk of raising another males child. Masculinity on the other hand is linked to testosterone and testosterone makes male more “aggressive” in their hunt and need for sex, women are trophies taken to show off that masculinity to other males. To show just how much of an “alpha male” you are. While religion spreads the message that women should be that “One” for their future husband it also spreads an ideal view on how masculine a man needs to be to be the “alpha”. It’s not really that easy of course but it’s draws the basic outline of it. We as modern humans shouldn’t follow such obsolete ideas and still the ideas linger on somehow.
