Why does teething hurt babies, but doesn seem to affect 6 years olds when they get their adult teeth?

It doesnt hurt when you grow in adult teeth after losing a baby tooth because your gums are open. When babies are teething, their teeth are ripping through the gums. I’m guessing your wisdom teeth didn’t grow in? Well I am in my 20’s and my wisdom teeth are growing in and it hurts bad. I feel bad for babies when they have all these teeth coming in. It can be very painful.

Excellent question, and I am glad you asked. It really doesn’t hurt babies all that bad either. People just tend to project every little fever, whimper, sleep difficulty onto teething becasue the baby can’t talk and say what the real problem is. The truth is that teething does not cause fever in infants and very rarely causes more than minor discomfort. When a parent can’t seem to find anything else wrong, they usually say “well, she must be teething” when in reality, maybe she is just cranky, hungry, tired, not hungry, foot fell asleep, bored, or who knows what else, but in reality it is rarely teething that is actually causing the problem.

Because there is already a hole there! When my wisdom teeth came in in my 20s I went through about 7 years of teething. Every 6 months there would be another growth spurt and it was itchy to start with then really sore round the gums.

Because the space is already there most likely and the teeth dont actually cut thru the gums for adult teeth….but thats not the case with all children since my daughter didnt have much pain when her baby teeth came in but is now having pain with her adult teeth out of the 7 shes lost so far a few of them she said hurt when they were coming back in….
