Why does the District expend money for food purchases?

0

(posted October 2, 2009) Board of Education Policy 6680 states that the purchase of “meals, refreshments, and/or other amenities” is an authorized expense and appropriate to further the interests of the District. The expenses have been deemed to have a “public purpose” in that they promote education, rapport with the business community, community relations, and the encouragement of non-employees to volunteer in Geneva schools. Often times, food purchases are made as classroom supplies for foods classes at the secondary level or are reimbursed from activity or other accounts after the purchase is made with a District credit card.
