Why does the District want to speed the flow of water up through the stretch it maintains?
The goal of the District maintenance is to preserve the flow conveyance capacity of the Vermilion River, not speed the flow of water through the river. The District will not be deepening, widening, or straightening the river. Maintenance will only remove sediment and vegetation to maintain the flow capacity of the waterway.
