Why does the graph depicting incidence of polio flatten out prior to the introduction of OPV and not after?
Millions of doses of IPV were administered when the vaccine was licensed, leading to a tremendous decline in polio infections. The subsequent introduction of OPV sustained this decline and led to the eventual eradication of wild polio virus transmission in the United States and many other parts of the world.
