Why does the Indian government continue to allow the Naxalite rebellion to occur within their country?
In short, it is much more politically convenient for the Government to maintain the status quo than to finish the rebellion. The available solutions to the Naxalite problem in India pose a lot of risk which none of the Indian governments have been courageous enough to take. The government of a vibrant democracy like India(like many other democratic govts.) does not think only in terms of the growth of the country, but it has huge incentive to maintain a good short term image among the voters overlooking the long term benefits of the country. Therefore the governments have always felt comfortable in maintaining the status quo only raising the issue some times.
