Why does the word massage not appear in the IAIM mission statement?

The mission statement reads; “to promote nurturing touch and communication through training, education and research so that parents, caregivers and children are loved, valued and respected throughout the world community.” As parents and caregivers will learn on the baby massage course, sometimes massage is not appropriate, sometimes a gentle touch is all that is required to show an infant their needs have been heard and respected. Dads and baby massage Most dads return to work within two weeks of their baby being born often to long hours. Dads who massage their babies have the opportunity to nurture their own unique bond with their baby, increase their confidence as a parent and reduce stress levels. Research has shown that dads receive more eye to eye contact, vocalisation and reaching out when they take the time to massage their babies. Dads, don’t wait till your baby is talking and running about, get in there and start your relationship with your baby right from the start.
