Why does WIC?

It is due to the added iron in infant cereal. Juice is covered because it is a common source of vitamin C which allows iron to be better absorbed and doesn’t go bad over a month. Babies of poor moms (or nutritionally challenged moms) have higher rates of anemia, hence they are an important feature of the program. If you don’t want juice for the baby, buy it for yourself and buy your own fruit and fix it (I would). WIC is only supposed to be supportive, not replacing all of your baby’s dietary needs. What I’d like to know (just for the sake of knowing) is whether a mom who is breastfeeding twins gets twice the food allotment (if she formula fed, of course, she would get twice the formula).
