The main reason is that heavier BBs would require a large percentage of the BB material to be Barium sulfate. It has been determine that such a high proportion of this material would make the BB too brittle. Currently Excel is experimenting with other heavier but environmentally friendly materials that will allow them to make heavier BBs such as a 0.30g.
