For a long time Internet Explorer did exist for Mac OS X. Microsoft were comitted to creating office software for the Mac for five years. Shortly after those five years Apple decided to release Safari around the same time Microsoft discontinued their Mac Internet Explorer. Microsoft felt that customers were better served by using Apple’s browser, noting that Microsoft does not have the access to the Macintosh operating system that it would need to compete.
