Why doesn PartMan create partitions properly with ICS or ADPL IDEFS?

I currently consider ICS IDEFS to be identical to ADPL IDEFS. Hence, all references for the ICS IDEFS also apply to the ADPL IDEFS. Unfortunately, it appears that IDEFS has a major bug in it, whereby it returns random error messages when attempting to access certain sectors on drive. Warning: As a result of this bug, it could be possible that if you use PartMan with IDEFS, it could scribble over random sectors on your hard drive. I cannot confirm if this is the case however. You are advised NOT to use PartMan with IDEFS. The IDEFS partitioning code will be disabled in all future releases of PartMan. This means that there is no RISCOS utility which will allow these drives to be partitioned for use with Linux. There is, however, a work around: • Use the IDEFS formatter program to create some partitions for Linux. Create these as normal filecore partitions. • Proceed to install Linux. • When the installer asks about partitioning disks, choose your IDEFS drive and select ‘EDIT’. It will no
