Why Establish HOPE worldwide Centre for Kids in China?
To meet the needs of migrant workers’ children– China’s recent economic development brought large number of peasants to the cities searching for better lives. According to statistics published by the government, this number has reached 140 million. These workers, along with their families, survive in the cities on low wages and very little benefits. They live in terrible living conditions and face many challenges, including providing decent education for their children.In 2006, HOPE worldwide in China began serving migrant workers’ children in the city of Kunming. In 2007, we took the Centre of HOPE concept and established the HOPE worldwide Centre for Kids in that city.
