Theoretically, it will help economic recovery by increasing the amount of spendable income for wage earners.  If they co-operate by spending this money, once again theoretically, the economy will grow.  As a short term fix, it may work.  Over the long term, it will probably decrease the amount of time the SSI fund remains solvent. more
