Why has my baby drunk his bottle within seconds using a variflow teat?

Babies can not control the amount they feed by using a variflow teat. I use them so do have experience of them. You are supposed to use the first setting ie slow flow & gradually turn it up to faster settings when they are ready. They will let you know if its coming out too slow or too fast by their reactions. Basically you are in control of the flow not the baby because you set the setting for them at the start of the feed. I would try the teat again starting on its slowest setting & see how he gets on with it. edit Just looked at the ones you are using & see where your problem comes from. These are designed to release the milk the harder the baby sucks. Your baby looks like he has a strong suck motion hence gulping the bottle down in seconds. If this bothers you there are variflow bottles that have settings ie slow/medium/fast & you just turn the teat round to the setting you want.
