Why has my MS Word 2003 has started acting strangely?

Down at the bottom of your MS Word screen you will see the Page Status bar, it starts from the left with the following; Page 1 – Sec 1 – 1/1 Towards the middle of this bar you will see four sets of letters, usually greyed out: REC, TRK, EXT and OVR. If OVR is black and not greyed out like the other letters, it means you are in Overtype mode, which deletes up the words to the right, as you type. This is switched on or off by clicking on the Insert key on the keyboard or by using the mouse pointer and double clicking on OVR. Make sure it is greyed out before you start typing and this won’t happen you again.
