Some doctors are not aware that it is important to use inhaled steroids and long acting medications to treat asthma. You may want to suggest that they review the newer guidelines on asthma treatment. I often get asthma when I am under stress. What can be done? Emotional factors can play a significant role in asthma. There are a number of relaxation techniques, including deep breathing exercises, biofeedback, meditation and hypnosis which are often helpful in reducing symptoms in addition to using medications. You should talk with your doctor about what is recommended. I have asthma and I am pregnant. My obstetrician said I shouldn't take any medications but I still have symptoms. What should I do? Obviously if you have asthma and are wheezing, it is very important to use medications. There are a limited number of medications which should not be used in pregnancy.
