Why Iceland cannot print money like US does but has to turn to IMF for this financial crisis?
Neither country can print itself out of this crisis. The ability to print money does not alter the problem. Iceland’s crisis is a foreign reserves crisis and not a domestic crisis. Its creditors are outside Iceland and they want paid in their domestic currency. The US problem is internal and so needs dollars.
