Why implementing a Concentrated Solar Power plant in France ?
• Today more than 80% of the total electricity demand in France is provided by nuclear power. However, smaller scale coal or gas turbine infrastructures complete response when needed during peak demand, especially during winter time and summer holidays. • A CSP plant like the ALBA NOVA 1 demonstrator in Corsica, provide a renewable solution meet peak consumption during high load periods in the summer time when solar radiation is available and plentiful. ALBA NOVA 1 has the capacity to provide electricity to more than 10 000 inhabitants and prevents the equivalent of 15 000 tons of CO2 emissions from being released into the atmosphere. • An associated Research & Development unit on Industrial Innovation enable the CSP community (industrials, laboratories, etc..) to test specific improvements in a real size environnement in an effort to reach grid parity by lowering the cost of solar electricity. This R&D unit will also enable industrial partners to validate the optimization of several s
