Finally, you may need to use invisible fencing even if you already have a physical fence installed. Some dogs find ways to jump, climb or otherwise circumvent a fence, but even the most accomplished escape artist can’t circumvent invisible fencing. Installation Invisible fencing is something that you can install yourself, if you have the time. Most invisible fencing units require you to bury a wire 2-3 inches underground around the perimeter of your property. This can be extremely time-consuming, though, so some homeowners elect to hire people to bury the wire. From there, you simply hook the wire up to the dog fence transmitter and adjust the settings
