Why is Britain the only European country with no train or bus service this Christmas?

I don’t know why we are the only country but surely you can manage one day without needing to take a bus or train, let the staff have the day off to enjoy with family and friends.

Because Britain is the only European country that wouldn’t require their train and bus personnel be away from their families for Christmas.

Because very few people actually want to use public transport on Christmas Day – there simply isn’t enough business available to make it economically worthwhile for the bus and train companies to run a service (not forgetting that they’d have to pay their staff at least double the normal rate of pay for working on a bank holiday).
