Why is Britain the only European country with no train or bus service this Christmas?
Because very few people actually want to use public transport on Christmas Day – there simply isn’t enough business available to make it economically worthwhile for the bus and train companies to run a service (not forgetting that they’d have to pay their staff at least double the normal rate of pay for working on a bank holiday).
