Why is confidentiality important for an interpreter?

confidentiality is important (but not legaly binding) because in all fairness you are having a conversation with the other person, but in this case you need a middle person to translate. this person needs to consider themselves as a machine and not part of the conversation.

Simple to protect the latters’ reputation maybe, that is the sad part of an interpreter’s work style, if what he si supposed to translate in real, he is being stopped by the person concerned for privacy purposes…….but If I were an interpreter, I wouldn’t agree to that, I would always speak the truth of the matter said…..my job is to interpret and convey the message not to keep a secret or protect someone’s reputation, otherwise it shouldnt have been said even in the beginning………..all in the common sense…….
