Why is it hard for other low-cost airlines to copy Southwest, Ryanair and Easyjet business model…..?

It is not hard to copy Southwest Airlines’ model as many airlines have done so and made slight changes. For example JetBlue offers satellite TV and gives you 34 inches of legroom. Also JetBlue operates 2 types of aircraft. As for BA and Virgin Atlantic, they would not want to copy the Southwest Airlines model. They pride themselves more on service and feel that because their service is better, they can charge a premium price on their tickets. Also there are people who would still pay to fly with these airlines. Singapore Airlines has one of the best in-flight services of all airlines. Their ticket prices are not cheap but people are willing to pay to fly with them. Last time I flew, the aircraft was just about full. The legacy airlines such as BA and Virgin also have unions. I know that JetBlue does not have a union so their employee pay might be lower and therefore JetBlue can charge a lower fare. (Also JetBlue has a young fleet so the maintenance costs are also lower).
