Why is it so difficult for English speakers to pronounce French?
The French language uses a different facial muscle called zygomaticus major to pronounce many words. My high school French teacher had us use our fingers to stimulate this muscle by pressing just below our ears and moving firmly forward down the jaw to the chin in hopes to activate a muscle memory, enabling us to pronounce the language correctly. This is also the same muscle one would use to smile or wiggle your ears.
