Why is McLean Internal Medicine a membership practice?
Unlike ordinary primary care practices that only treat you when you get sick, we believe it’s also our responsibility to help you prevent disease and stay healthy in the first place. This means providing proactive, individualized attention to your health & wellness needs, and giving you quick, convenient access to your doctor when you need it (whether that’s in the office, via phone, or via email). Unfortunately, today’s health system forces most doctors to practice “assembly-line” medicine – maintaining extremely large patient panels and squeezing as many office visits into a day as possible simply to cover costs. By operating as a membership practice with a reasonable monthly membership fee, we are able maintain a more appropriate practice size that allows us to give each patient the highest levels of individual attention they deserve.
