Why is my dog afraid of loud high pitched noises?
The first thing you should try is taking your dog to the vet to get its ears checked to ensure this isn’t a medical problem. Just like people, dogs can get sick and become more sensitive to sounds or lights etc. The next option will be to have your dog’s behaviour assessed by a trainer. Some people would do this themselves with reference material from online or library, but I suggest a qualified trainer do it. This will involve putting your dog in some situations that may make it slightly uncomfortable, along with some noises etc to check the temperment of your dog. A qualified trainer should do this because when startled a dog can bite out of fear. If you tried to do this yourself you could put yourself in some danger, and you may not also notice all of the subtle clues your dog gives off. The trainer will be able to help you to retrain your dog not to fear sounds if that is the issue. They will either work with you, or simply give you pointers to use on your own at home. Consistency
